In recent years approximately 20% of all funds raised by the Chalmers Congregation go to projects outside our own walls. These include some local ministries of compassion, but also represent our interest in and support for various other mission activities. In cooperation with our fellow Presbyterians in Kirkwall and West Flamboro we participate in what is known as Presbyterian Corn Share. This crop growing project in our presbytery, when enhanced by participation in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, makes a substantial contribution towards addressing the problems of world hunger. On the local level we give a considerable amount of support to the programs of Wesley Urban Ministries in Hamilton. Members of the congregation have served on the Wesley Board. We have been a major supporter of their annual "Case For Kids" fundraiser to support their summer youth ministries. We have responded to needs there at Christmas. Also, we provide a Sunday meal at the Wesley Centre once each year. Our Sunday School children are also made aware of the wider work of Christ's church in the world. Each year the Sunday School has a mission project which is used both to make children more aware of the Christian Church's role in the world and to encourage their practical participation. Some of the missionary projects and mission organizations in which we have taken an interest through the years are represented on our Links page. We invite you to visit their web sites and learn more about the work in which they are engaged in various parts of the world.
