Presbyterians Sharing

Presbyterians Sharing is the name given to the national budget of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Presbyterians Sharing is the channel through which individual congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada participate in the national and international work of the denomination.

Presbyterians Sharing is more than just about economics. It is about doing the work of the church together.

Presbyterians Sharing is about sending missionaries - forty-three mission staff in 20 countries.

Presbyterians Sharing is about building new congregations across Canada.

Presbyterians Sharing is about training ministers and providing support for congregations and working with young people.

Presbyterians Sharing is about partnerships with churches and groups in Canada and around the world to work together for peace and justice.

Presbyterians Sharing is about supporting the General Assembly and its office so that the church can do the work of the church and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

The total budget for Presbyterians Sharing for 2006 is $14,000.00 and it is allocated as follows;

The Life and Mission Agency will expend 63% of the Budget: Their work will include the support of the national and international ministries of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. We support 43 mission personnel in 20 countries as well as international partnerships with churches around the world. In Canada we contrtibute to the support of 28 new church developments, 13 town, rural and remote ministries, 8 inner city and 9 urban ministries, 10 native ministries and 12 chaplaincies.

Support Services utilize 15% of the Budget: This includes such things as human resources, sales and distribution of materials, maintaining church office buildings and a missionary residence and providing financial services for the church.

The General Assembly Office Utilizes 10%: These funds maintain the General Assembly (our church's highest decision making body), the Assembly Council and Office and the Presbyterian Archives.

Theological Education will account for 8% of the Budget: The Presbyterian Church in Canada supports three institutions for theological training. These are Knox College, Toronto, The presbyterian College in Montreal and St. Andrew's Hall in Vancouver.

4% of the Budget will be allocated to a Contingency Fund.
